The Stanley Gill Room
Stanley Gill (1914 - 1986), an Ashburtonian who devoted his life to preserving the town's history, was instrumental, in 1984, in reviving the Guild of St. Lawrence, first founded in the 1300s.
Here you will find the archives of the Grammar School kindly given or loaned by past pupils or their families, together with aspects of the ancient office of Portreeve.

| Part of this room is devoted to Richard Carlile (1790-1843), another pupil of the school who spent his adult life fighting for the freedom of the press against Government oppression. |
